Real questions from real customers. If you don’t see your answer here, call us and we’ll walk you through it.

Booking & Scheduling

How far in advance do I need to book a dumpster?
A day or two is usually enough. Same day delivery is often available if you call before early afternoon. During busy weeks, like right after a storm, booking a few days ahead is safer.
Can I rent more than one dumpster at a time?
Yes. Larger renovations and job sites sometimes need two or more containers, delivered together or staggered as the work moves along. Just mention it when you call so we can plan the delivery.
Can I cancel or reschedule my order?
Yes, as long as you let us know before the delivery truck is on its way. Plans change, and we’d rather reschedule than show up with a container you’re not ready for.
What if my project takes longer than expected?
Just call before your rental period ends. Extending a rental is usually a simple daily rate, and we’ll adjust the pickup date to match your new timeline.

What Can and Cannot Go In

Can I put a mattress in the dumpster?
Yes, but it may come with a small extra fee. Mattresses are bulky and contain springs and foam that some landfills charge more to process. Ask us about the fee when you book so there’s no surprise later.
Can I put a refrigerator, freezer, or AC unit in the dumpster?
Not unless the refrigerant has been professionally removed first. Appliances that once held Freon are regulated by federal law and can’t go in a standard dumpster with the gas still inside. Once it’s been recovered by a licensed technician, the appliance itself is fine to toss.
Can I put tires in the dumpster?
No. Tires are banned at almost every landfill because they trap gas underground and rise back to the surface over time. If you have tires to get rid of, ask us about a separate haul-off option.
Is a construction dumpster different from a regular roll off dumpster?
Not really — they’re often the same container. “Construction dumpster” usually just describes the use case (job site debris) rather than a different product. The main difference is the weight allowance, which tends to be higher for construction-grade material like concrete or roofing.

Placement & Permits

Do I need a permit if the dumpster sits in my driveway?
No. Permits are only needed when a container sits on a public street or sidewalk. A driveway or other private property doesn’t require one
Can I move the dumpster myself after it’s delivered?
We’d rather you didn’t. Roll off containers are heavy and can damage driveways, gas lines, or septic systems if moved without the right equipment. If the placement isn’t working for your project, call us and we’ll come reposition it.
What if the dumpster damages my driveway?
It shouldn’t, if it’s placed correctly. Protective boards go under the container on asphalt or concrete to spread out the weight. Older or already-cracked driveways are more sensitive, so mention it when booking and we’ll take extra care with placement.

Filling & Weather

What happens if I fill the dumpster past the top?
We can’t legally haul it away until it’s below the fill line. An overloaded container isn’t safe to transport and can spill debris on the road. If you’re close to the top, breaking down bulky items or spreading the load more evenly usually creates enough room.
Should I cover the dumpster if it rains?
It’s not required, but it can help. Rain adds weight to absorbent material like carpet or drywall, which can push you closer to the weight limit. A simple tarp keeps water out if heavy rain is expected during your rental.
Will the driver help me load the dumpster?
No, loading is done by the customer. The driver’s job is delivery, placement, and pickup. If you need help loading heavy debris, a local junk removal or labor service can assist separately.
How much does it cost to rent a dumpster in Asheville, NC?
Dumpster rental in Asheville starts at $275 for a 10-yard container, $395 for a 20-yard, and $475 for a 30-yard — each with a 7-day rental period. Every quote is a flat, upfront price that includes delivery, pickup, and the weight allowance, so there are no surprise fees. Call (828) 203-8028 for an exact quote for your project.
What size dumpster do I need for a home cleanout?
A 10-yard dumpster handles a garage or single-room cleanout, while a 15-yard covers a kitchen remodel or deck removal. For multi-room renovations or a whole-house cleanout, the 20-yard or 30-yard is the safer choice — renting one size up usually costs less than ordering a second container. Describe your project when you call (828) 203-8028 and we’ll recommend the right size.
